Longtime Céline Designer Leaving The Brand And A New Creative Director On Board

If you don't know by now that Phoebe Philo is leaving Céline, where have you been?
Today I want to explain in detail why* the longtime Céline designer is leaving the brand. She basically created and revived the brand that we know as Céline. Is the brand ready for a major change?

Is this the ending of an era? The era of beautiful minimalism at Céline. After 10 years of an amazing work, longtime Céline designer Phoebe Philo is leaving the fashion house. According to multiple sources, LVMH is interviewing designers to replace Céline's creative director - keep reading to find out who would be replacing Philo for now on.

The relaxed and distinctive Céline's silhouette made the brand really popular and started the massive and popular movement of minimalism in fashion. Phoebe Philo's style took elements from designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Prada and Chanel and transformed them into a classic and luxurious style.
For her, comfort and elegance are the keys to a successful style. Many celebrities, designers, and influencers idolatrize Philo for her experience and ability to sell a look to the masses.

After her studies at the Central Saint Martins College in London in 1997, Phoebe Philo started to work as fashion design assistant at the French label Chloé. In 2001, she succeeded the former creative director Stella McCartney and worked there between 2001 and 2006. She took a break to raise her first child and came back to the fashion industry to be part of Céline's team. At Céline, between 2009 and 2017, she revived the brand and made her designs popular among young woman and entrepreneurs.

“For me, the ultimate wardrobe is a white shirt, a pair of black trousers, a skirt, maybe three coats. Two jackets, a high heel, a flat shoe, and a trainer. A bag. Maybe only one bag. And maybe a scarf.”
— Phoebe Philo (2012)

Céline has only recently begun selling its products online since nowadays more brands are becoming successful and earning more money by selling online rather than in physical stores. One of the reasons why I believe Philo is leaving is the desire of LVMH to appeal to a larger audience. Making designs more inclusive and less distinctive could probably attract more customers!.
Céline is an extremely wearable brand, in my opinion, but some people think the opposite and describe Céline as a more masculine tomboyish brand.
I am hoping Phoebe Philo comes back in a couple of years with a new brand of her own or one in collaboration with a popular and trendy emerging designer.
We would have to wait for the exciting news and a new Céline with a new creative director which was announced by LVMH last week, Heidi Slimane would be the new Artistic, Creative and Image Director of Céline, effective 1st February. Slimane will show his first collection for the French fashion house in September 2018.
For now, I would like to know your thoughts on this matter and if you think Céline would be the same without Phoebe Philo and if Slimane would fill her shoes.

Thank you!
