Oscars 2020 Red Carpet Edition

Isn't the Red Carpet our favorite part of the Oscars?  It is definitely mine and I want to bring you the best looks from this gala with my critique from my fashion-design point of view. Many gowns with champagne shades, a lot of intricated beading and flowy drapey silhouettes were seen during the night.  The Oscars are always the best gala for fashion fanatics and this 92nd Academy Awards that were presented on Sunday, Feb 9th at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood gave us a lot to talk about.
I want to congratulate all the winners and ask you to please let me know if I forgot to include an amazing look in this post.
Thank you
Lina Mayorga

Timothée Chalamet
In Prada
I am liking this look a lot. Timothée wore a navy blue satin two-piece by Prada, which consisted of a zip-up bomber jacket and matching trousers. Everyone was judging his choice since it wasn't the typical suit that we are used to seeing at the red carpet, but it works because of the color and the satin fabric that makes everything more elegant.

MOLLY SIMS
In Zuhair Murad
It is easy to recognize that this gown is a Zuhair Murad, with its beading long-sleeve top and the drapey tone-down coral satin bottom. This gown really works because the two champagne shades are different from her skin tone but close enough to look cohesive.

IDINA MENZEL
In J. Mendel
I'm including Idina's gown because it is simple, we have seen it before but it works for her perfectly. The magenta dress made of a silk corrugated crepe fabric featuring a side loose bow was a safe but beautiful choice.

BRIE LARSON
In Celine
I have mixed feelings about this gown. I am surprised about how much I like that the gown's color is so similar to her skin tone, but the design itself is not modern enough. Although, the beading detail on the waist saved this look and made the dress beautiful.

CYNTHIA ERIVO
In Atelier Versace

The silhouette of this gown is astounding. It was probably the most beautiful look of the night, but there's something about the top that disrupts the style. I think the fabric/materials used for the top part is not delicate enough, but she definitely looks so good with this Versace gown (I would have chosen a stiletto dainty shoe for her look).

CHARLIZE THERON
In Dior
This woman looks beautiful in everything. This Dior gown is perfect for the Oscars because of the classic old-Hollywood silhouette and the color. The dropped shoulder adds a twist to this classic style.

Natalie Portman
In Dior
As soon as I saw this dress, I thought it was a Givenchy but it is actually a gown from Dior. The golden rope around the waist and the embroidery of the fabric are different and made the gown special.
Natalie Portman wore a black cape that featured the names of female directors, who in Portman's opinion needed to be recognized, embroidered on the lapel with golden thread.
