5 MONCLER CRAIG GREEN
Let's talk about the new MONCLER collection; this time was Craig Green, who was in charge of working for the Moncler house and reinventing the brand's style. Moncler Genius showcases eight collections by twelve design partners where experimentation and innovation are welcome and encourage.
On August 5th, Moncler presented the new collection in collaboration with Craig Green: 5 MONCLER CRAIG GREEN, the latest chapter of its Genius Project. Craig Green is a London-born designer who founded his label in 2012 and has been named as one of the Best British Menswear Designers at the Fashion Awards in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
For his latest Moncler Genius chapter, Craig Green chose to work exclusively micro ripstop nylon. This material allowed him to produce the beautiful transparencies through the collection and the lightweight of all the pieces. Green's goal was to create "the lightest outerwear possible," and his jackets rather than clothing resemble real works of art.
At first glance, these pieces look like very thin air mattresses, but they are constructed to fit the body perfectly. They look like this for the installation which was curated that way to innovate (Fashion!). Still, the jackets have a system that makes the pieces wearable, and they also have visible padding that adds another peculiar detail to the collection. My favorite part is definitely the colors of these pieces and how the material produces different bright hues of pink, green, blue, yellow, and red because of its transparency. The collection also has some garments with black and white graphics that are considered similar to the original Moncler silhouettes.
“There is a scientific aspect to Moncler that I find inspiring. I wanted to explore ways of pushing simplicity to the extreme and using the process of down filling almost like a print, building volumes around the body from flat items, from 2D to 3D. For me, Moncler is ultimately about protection and functionality”.

The only downside of this collection is definitely the "down," literally! The filling of these pieces is still made of feathers. As a vegan, I say No! to down; as a designer, I understand the volumizing factor that down provides, but I think it would be worth it for Moncler to explore more eco animal-friendly fillings. It's 2020! I don't think we need down anymore, even when this one is traceable and controlled. I know that Moncler is tackling sustainability with its program "Born to Protect" plan, which intents to reduce the CO2 emissions mainly. But in my opinion, it would be interesting to see more of the vegan/recycling aspect for future collections (Hire me Moncler! 😉).

Hablemos de la nueva colección MONCLER, esta vez fue Craig Green quien se encargó de trabajar para la casa Moncler y reinventar el estilo de la marca. Moncler Genius exhibe ocho colecciones de doce socios de diseño donde la experimentación y la innovación son bienvenidas e incitadas.
El pasado 5 de agosto, Moncler presentó la nueva colección en colaboración con Craig Green: 5 MONCLER CRAIG GREEN, el último capítulo de su Proyecto Genius. Craig Green es un diseñador nacido en Londres que fundó su marca en 2012 y ha sido nombrado uno de los mejores diseñadores británicos de ropa masculina en los Fashion Awards en 2016, 2017 y 2018.
Para su más reciente collección de Moncler Genius, Craig Green eligió trabajar exclusivamente con micro nylon ripstop. Este material le permitió producir las hermosas transparencias a través de la colección y el aspecto ligero de todas las piezas. El objetivo de Green era crear "los abrigos más ligeros possibles"; sus chaquetas en lugar de ropa, parecen verdaderas obras de arte.
A primera vista, estas piezas parecen colchones de aire muy finos, pero están construidas para adaptarse perfectamente al cuerpo. Se ven asi para la instalación que fue diseñada de esa manera para innovar pero las chaquetas cuentan con un sistema que hace que las piezas se puedan lucir común y corriente, además el acolchado visible añade otro detalle peculiar a la colección. Mi parte favorita son definitivamente los colores de estas piezas y cómo el material produce diferentes tonos brillantes de rosa, verde, azul, amarillo y rojo debido a su transparencia. La colección también cuenta con algunas prendas con gráficos en blanco y negro que se consideran similares a las siluetas originales de Moncler.
“Hay un aspecto científico en Moncler que encuentro inspirador. Quería explorar formas de llevar la simplicidad al extremo y usar el proceso de relleno casi como una impresión, construyendo volúmenes alrededor del cuerpo a partir de elementos planos, de 2D a 3D. Para mí, Moncler se trata en última instancia de protección y funcionalidad ”.

El único inconveniente de esta colección es definitivamente el "relleno", ¡literalmente! El relleno de estas piezas todavía está hecho de plumas. Como vegana, digo ¡No! a estas plumas; como diseñador, entiendo el factor voluminizador que proporciona el plumón, pero creo que valdría la pena que Moncler explorara más rellenos ecológicos que respeten los animales. ¡Es 2020! No creo que necesitemos más plumas para nuestras chaquetas, incluso cuando el plumaje este es rastreable y controlado. Sé que Moncler está abordando la sostenibilidad con su programa "Born to Protect", que tiene como objetivo reducir las emisiones de CO2 principalmente. Pero en mi opinión, sería interesante ver más del aspecto vegano / reciclaje para futuras colecciones (¡Contrátame Moncler! 😉).
